Reps Aspirant To Facilitate Access To Quality Education For Girl Children

An aspirant for the Misau/Dambam House of Representatives position under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Yusuf Garba Mohammed has promised that if elected in 2023, will facilitate easy access to quality education for Girl Children within his constituency.

 

Engineer Mohammed who made the pledge during an exclusive interview with our Correspondent on Thursday, noted that for any society to progress, the educational needs of Girl child must be given a topmost priority.

 

According to him, issues that have to do girl child education would be treated specially by creating special programmes for girls, most especially those at the remote villages so as to give them quality education free of charge.

 

Engineer Mohammed, who observed that there is an existing lapse in the educational progress of the people of his constituency, pledged to if elected, assist in his own way to ensure massive school enrollment of children in order to boost their educational needs.

 

“I will ensure that out of my personal earnings, citizens of my constituency will enjoy scholarship in primary, secondary, and even tertiary education”, he said.

 

Engineer Mohammed who said he has conceptualized three cardinal agendas that include education, health, and youth empowerment for the people of his constituency if elected, promise to work towards attracting federal institutions to his constituency.

 

“I think by so doing, my people will have enough opportunity to access education. Like for now, in the whole North, we don’t have any information technology institution, so if I win as a reps member, I will ensure that I sponsor a bill to that regard, to establish the federal college of information technology in Misau Emirate Council”, he said.

 

According to Engineer Mohammed, “in the area of health, I will work towards upgrading our hospitals by donating necessary equipment and by also sponsoring some of our young ones to study health related courses such Nursing, midwifery, Lab technician among others”.

 

He assured that some of the basic needs of the people of his constituency would be critically looked into, with a view to resolving them if given the mandate in 2023.

 

“You know, the National assembly is one of the three arms of government and the aim of representation is to look critically at some of the problems of your constituency and see whether you can sponsor a motion to help them get out of the problems with the aid of federal government or yourself”, he noted.

 

Mohammed while promising a cordial working relationship with the executive in his home state, Bauchi, said by so doing, his people will enjoy more dividends of democracy without consideration to party affiliation.

 

On youth Empowerment, Engineer Mohammed said, he will create an avenue for the youth and women to acquire skills that can help them become self-reliant.

 

“I will empower our youth not by giving them money, but by sponsoring them in various skills acquisition programmes as part of my contribution to fight unemployment”, he said.

 

Mohammed, who had in the past, served as President, Misau Emirate Council Student Union ATBU chapter, National publicity Secretary of NUBASS as well as one-time member constitution review Committee of NUBASS, said he is capable of delivering and will never be a bench warmer at the National assembly when given the mandate.
