I’m saddened by a mischievous report making the rounds by naysayers that His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki owes the state workers running up to six months. The mongers of this fake news doubtless need their heads examined.
I feel duty-bound to set the record straight under the existing circumstances.
Frankly, nothing could be further 4rm the truth. Edo workers are often paid on or before the 27th of every month without fail.
As a responsive government, the welfare of Edo workers is prioritised by the Obaseki-led administration. The recent increase in the Federal Government-approved minimum wage from N30,000 to N40,000 in Edo is a case in point or speaks volumes for Obaseki’s unalloyed and unbending commitment to workers’ welfare in the state.
I, therefore, urge the reading public to disregard the lies being peddled by a generation of idlers whose stock-in-trade is none other than pulling others down.
The revamping economic policies which are daily churned out by the Obaseki-led government in Edo State has so impacted positively on the lives of our people that Edo has become a reference point in governance and he is poised to do more the activities of naysayers notwithstanding.
His predecessor left behind a state saddled with a massive debt burden with our GDP operating on a nearly zero frequency modulation, but today all that has changed for the better. Edo, a state with the infamous acronym Civil Service State (CSS)rose from behind to overtake other green states in the Federation of Nigeria to a prestigious number 8 position after a rebasing calculation of its GDP which now stands at a whooping $11 billion-plus!
You will all recall that his predecessor, the erstwhile chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhonle while Edo Governor did expressly testify to his financial wizardry in Obaseki’s capacity as head of his economic team before they unavoidably had to part ways the way they did.
Here is an Obaseki if you need reminding! Whence comes such another?
