Publish Details Of Money Collected By State Governors In National Dailies To Avoid Diversion Of Paris/London Club Refund, Sen. Adokwe To Finance Minister

Senator Suleiman Adokwe (PDP) representing Nasarawa Southern senatorial district at the national Assembly, Suleiman Adokwe has called on the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun to as matter of urgency publish details of money received as refund from Paris/London club refund.

Adokwe said the publishing of money received as refund by the state would avoid embezzlement and mismanagement of state resource, the senator promised to resist any attempt to divert the money from what they are meant for, refuses to use funds and settle workers and pensioners.” but not for the execution of projects.

Senator Adokwe disclosed this while speaking to journalists shortly after Christmas church service held at Evangelical Reform Church of Christ to mark the birth of Jesus Christ in Lafia, the senator said he would resist any attempt to divert the money by governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, saying he would not hesitate to challenge the chief executive.

“As lawmakers we would not seat back and allowed corrupt state governors embarking on bogus projects ,while condemning the negative attitude of some states governors as ungodly act, urging the minister of finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun to ensure details of the funds is being be published in all the national newspapers to ensure due process is being followed.

According to him, any state governor that had received the funds should make it available for them to see, particularly that it comes with an instruction from the presidency that the money should be used to settle backlog of salaries arrears and pensioners in each state of the federation.

“There is no loan that is obtained internationally that does not have national Assembly backing, for that reason we have the legal right to monitor on how those funds would be released”.

“I read in the newspapers I hope it is not true that some of the state governors are begging the minister of finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun not to release the details of the funds given to them,” he stated

Commenting policies of President Muhammadu Buhari, he continued: “If the national assembly discovered that president Muhammadu Buhari economy policies are going to bring hardship on the citizens of the nation we will resist against the policy.”

He words: “We pray that 2017 will be a better year based on the budget presented by president Muhammadu Buhari before the National Assembly recently that aimed at packaging the economy in such a way the will recover from the recession.

He added that, “We will work hand in hand with Mr. President, particularly if the economy policies are gear towards alleviating the suffering of Nigerians, but where we think that some of the policies are going to bring more hardship we will resist it to make sure that certain corrections are taken.”

“The president has shown good faith when the National assembly came with several resolutions as how to help him to recover from the recession, I noticed that in his budget speech he incorporated most of the resolutions. That is the sign of good faith and I believed that if he keeps to that faith we should be able to come out from the economy recession by God willing,” he added.
