The Good Governance Advocacy Group has urged the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to open an inquiry into what happened to the N7.2 billion Imo Air project established by the former governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
The convener of the group, Ambasssdor Ikemenenwa Gabriel in a statement which a copy was made available to NewsBand noted that the Imo people are happy over the recovery effort of governor Uzodinma especially in the recovery of K.O Mbadiwe University and the Royal Palm Estate.
He said that despite claim by Okorocha that the Imo Air which will partner with Dana Air for a period of 10 years will become a full blown airline by 2018, Imo people are yet to see it coming to fruition.
Ikemenenwa however added that the project is nothing but a huge fraud committed against the people of the State by Okorocha.
The statement read, “Imolites both at home and in the diaspora are full of joy over the recovery efforts of Gov. Hope Uzodimma especially on his recent recovery of the K.O Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, the Royal Palm Estate, Akachi road amongst other things.
“On January 24, 2017, the Nigerian media space was agog with the news of the launch of Imo Air by the Okorocha administration and photographs of a plane branded Imo Air and Dana Air which Okorocha claimed was one out of five acquired by the state government to provide airline services to indigenes of the state.
“Okorocha admitted that the Imo Air was yet to get an operational licence hence the partnership with Dana Air which would last for 10 years for the management of the airline and boasted that Imo Air would become a full blown airline by 2018. By November 2017, the said Imo air was not operational, it was then clear the Imo Air project is a huge fraud perpetrated against the people of Imo State by Okorocha.
