A paper presenter on interfaith Alliance For SDG Action Plan (IASAP) and CASSEF Educational Foundation, Prince, Dr Charles Dickson has urged Nigerians to develop listening ears towards resolving religious differences and practice for betterment of the society.
He disclosed that open-mindedness is one of the prerequisite ingredients of the willingness of individuals to learn to accommodate each other as Nigerians are too quick in judgemental attitudes toward one another.
Speaking during his presentation at the lead paper presenter, Dr Dickson said that interfaith dialogue and collaboration give you an armful opportunity to interact with someone else from another faith.
He emphasized how people should relate with their neighbors because both human beings whenever you die people would cry but the idea is to understand each other religion and when you have mixed feelings that influences your decision.
According to him, we all work together and understand each other faith we also forget that there is only one faith, as humans we must build interfaith collaboration to harness each other potential towards promoting peaceful coexistence amongst us.
Dickson said, that the issue of interfaith dialogue has to be open and mutual respect in communication but he doubts that why some Muslims practice covering their faces which are cut across religious backgrounds is a fundamental change in rules.
He explained further that in promoting understanding amongst the diverse tribes and religions we must learn to collaborate and attach value by listening to people before speaking ill of them.
Dickson disclosed that open-mindedness being willing to learn, and honesty share your experience through dialogue would encourage peaceful progress instead of displaying judgmental attitudes against others’ religious practices.
He maintained that as a person you can’t please everybody on earth but try to recognize the limit of your understanding and be willing to learn new ideas from other people.
Adding,” imbibe the spirit of humility and focus on sharing common value in achieving the same goal and ensure that problem is resolved amiably because we must build bridges across all religious body “.
