President Of Italian Parliament Visits Dogara On Monday

The President of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Laura Boldrini, will on Monday visit Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, in Abuja.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media & Public Affairs to the Speaker, Turaki Hassan, said the visit was at the instance of the President of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies, Mrs Boldrini.

The visit is aimed at deepening relations between Nigeria and Italy, as well as to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

This visit is also expected to build on similar state visits by the Italian Prime Minister and other top government officials in the last few years, according to the Italian ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Falvio Rustico.

As part of activities for the visit, the two leaders will visit an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in the Federal Capital Territory, where they will interact with women and children and deliver relief materials to them.

The two leaders will also sign a joint declaration aimed at fostering and deepening parliamentary relations between Nigeria and Italy.

In driving his agenda of legislative diplomacy, Speaker Yakubu Dogara has since inception of the 8th Assembly, created parliamentary friendship groups between Nigeria and a number of countries across the world, some of which include China, Saudi Arabia,  Canada, USA, Spain,  Mexico, Britain among others.
