Police To Arrest Ex-Council Chairman, 7 Others In Bauchi Over Threat To Life, Criminal Intimidation

Police in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi state may be on their move to arrest the former chairman of the LGA Mr Markus Bitrus  over allege offence related to threat to  life, criminal intimidation.

Other offences against the suspected former council chairman are causing grievous hurt and assault against the residence of Anguwan moresu village in the area.

This followed an allege act capable of causing hostilities among the residence of the areas thereby attracting passers-by which is against the law and order on the need for dialogue.

It was gathered that Bitrus has dislodged a barricade mounted on the area which is aim for speed limit traffic especially to protect minors being victims of motorists and okada riders.

Instead of pleading with the residence to relax the barricade which had never cause any accident,  Bitrus allegedly  mobilizes other seven stern mob to resists any attempt further stopping them dislodging the barricade.

Eye witness said, Bitrus was initially approach to stop the act, but allegedly threaten to beat anybody to claiming the barricade may damage his car tyre.

It was learn that the police had to officially write to invite him after he was said to have   initially turned down invitation by the police.

The Bogoro Divisional police officers learnt by this medium developed anger and wondered why a former council chairman who supposed to know the law can act in that manner and refuse to respect police invitation.

It could be recalled that Bitrus is said to be still nursing grudge against the villagers for failing to claim their lands belonging to them over 100 years when he had reported to the authorities that the land belongs to his family even though he had no evidence

As it is now there is palpable tension in the areas and if not address by the Bauchi state security agencies, it may snowball to full scale communal crisis thereby breaking the relative peace.
