Police Set To Quiz Osun Ex-Commissioner, Bashiru Over Alleged Attempted Murder Of Fatai Diekola, Others

The Zonal 11 headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force which comprises of Ondo, Osun and Oyo, has concluded arrangement to quiz the immediate past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ajibola Bashiru over attempted murder of Alhaji Fatai Oyedele Diekola,Alhaji Segun Adekilekun and Alhaji Sikiru Lawal in September this year at Alekuwodo area of Osogbo.

The Assistant Inspector General incharge of the Zone,Ibrahim Muhammed gave the directive upon received the Petition Letter dated 9th October,2018,wrote by the Law office of Bukola Onifade & Co, alleging that the Personal Assistant to the Ex-Commissioner, Teslim Olaiya on the directive of his boss led thugs popularly known as “State boys” to attack the complainants on 24th Day of September, 2018.

The Petitioner also forwarded the copies of the Petition Letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP),US Consular-General, Amnesty International and host of other concerned organizations for their notification and necessary action on the burning issue.

It was gathered that the AIG had directed the officer-in-charge to do the case diligently by ensuring that all the culprits including their Sponsors, Mr. Bashiru ,were brought to justice ,just as Amnesty International in a signed Letter by its Director, Osai Ojigho, with reference number: AIN/0282/101/18, thrown its weight behind the complainants on any form of legal means to seek redress on the matter,promising of its support to them.

Commenting on the issue, a human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi,Alimi Sulaiman, commended the Zonal AIG for prompt professional action on the Petition by ensuring justice for all the parties in the matter, urging the Police boss to effect the immediate arrest of all the culprits,no matter whose ox is gored.

Comrade Sulaiman maintained that Mr. Bashiru as a legal Practitioner should respect himself by honouring the Police invitation to explain what he (Bashiru) knew about the dastard act against fellow human on the fateful day.

The rights activist revealed that Mr. Bashiru has been running helter-skelter to evade the Police arrest on this heinous act but no sinner shall go unpunished in order to serve as a deterrent to others who might have similar tendency in the future, noting that culprits had committed an offence contrary to Section 330-338,355,357,364,366,382,383,390,402,403, 516 and 518 Criminal Code Act Caps “C38” Laws of the Federation 2004 and Section 33-35,41 and 42,Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as altered in

2011.

According to the Petition: “That on the 24th day of September, 2018, Our clients were going to the Hospital (Morning Star Hospital) at Akinlade Street, Alekuwodo Area, Osogbo, for medical check-up in a Toyota Corolla Car belonging to Alhaji Segun Adekilekun with Registration Number: LND 340 DS, saw some hoodlums led by Bashiru’s Personal Assistant, Teslim Olaiya with Phone number: 08033841858,they were armed with all sorts of dangerous weapons.

“These hoodlums collected the Mobile Phones of Our Clients, their monies and destroyed the vehicle of Alhaji Adekilekun beyond repair and the Car worth N2,400,000(Two Million ,Four Hundred Thousand Naira). That their unlawful attacks conduct however put Our Clients in severe psychological trauma which since that time they have patronizing hospitals for treatment up till date.

“That Our Clients thereafter discovered that the Patrol Van is the Escort of Mr. Ajibola Bashiru, the then Osun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice which was part of the vehicle used to attack our clients by the Hoodlums”.
