The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the gruesome killing of a 14-year-old Almajiri pupil, Bashir Adamu, whose beheaded body was found with his genitals removed.
The incident reportedly occurred on the road to Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram Local Government Area.
Bashir had been missing for two days before his body was discovered by locals.
His relatives later confirmed his identity.
Confirming the arrest on Friday night, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, said the suspect was in custody, but declined to provide further details.
“We have made an arrest in connection with the killing of the Almajiri student, but I won’t be able to provide more details for now.
“As the investigation continues, the police are urging residents in the state to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities to ensure that those responsible for the heinous crime are brought to justice,” Adam said.
He said further updates would be provided in due course.
