Stella Nwadigo, a teacher in a viral video abusing a three-year-old pupil, Abayomi Michael, at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu has been arrested by the Lagos State Police command.
Nwadigo was apprehended after a video showing her mistreating the toddler surfaced online, sparking widespread outrage on social media.
The footage, which quickly went viral, drew public condemnation and led to calls for immediate action against the teacher.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday. “The teacher has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing investigation,” he stated. “Further necessary actions will follow to ensure justice is served.”
The footage has reignited conversations about child protection and the responsibility of educators to maintain a safe environment for children.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians of pupils at Christ-Mitots School are reportedly alarmed by the incident, with many calling for stricter regulations to prevent similar occurrences in schools across the state.
