Plot Against Governor Amaechi Thickens As FG Tightens Financial Noose, Police Seal -Off Secretariat Again

The crisis rocking the Rivers State PDP appears to continue unabated. As Newsdiaryonline.com had reported the plot to sack Governor Rotimi Amaechi is at the core of the lingering crisis in the state. And the Abuja forces linked to the presidency who are believed to be spearheading the plot are digging in. Newsdiaryonline.com last month  uncovered  the plot to impeach  the governor.
And there appears to be no let up as the fresh facts reaching Newsdiaryonline.com indicate a thickening plot to ensure the Amaechi is sacked. As a prelude to his ouster, insiders said a new directive has been given by the powers that be aimed at denying officials of the state government access to fund. This is coming after the PDP members of the party were ‘sacked’ and the state aircraft has been grounded by aviation  authorities ostensibly to cripple the governor who is suspected of nursing  a ‘presidential’ ambition ,possibly as a running mate in 2015.

Hints of a tightening of the financial noose on Rivers state officials was dropped when an insider told Newsdiaryonline.com  that Rivers  “State  government  officials are finding it difficult  to withdraw  money as it is believed that there is a directive  not to release funds any longer for projects  as the government of Amaechi will soon be removed.”
The source could not identify who issued the directive and when. But sources in Port Harcourt believe it’s the presidency that is behind the plot to oust Amaechi. Presidential spokesmen have repeatedly denied any quarrel between President Goodluck Jonathan and Amaechi.
Yet another indication that the Abuja forces are not backing off yet was the sudden return on Wednesday of policemen and   the eventual sealing off, again, of Obio-Akpor local government secretariat. The return of barricades at the secretariat has come as a shock to those who view this as a flagrant violation of a court order.
A court had on ruled that the police should remove the barricade and allow access to and from the secretariat. The police obeyed the order for one day, a source in PortHarcourt said, as people had access to the secretariat on Tuesday.
“But on Wednesday the police were re-ordered to go back and seal the secretariat. As we speak now the secretariat remains sealed in defiance of a court order” Newsdiaryonline.com was told earlier today.
Another angry insider put it more succinctly: “The police Commissioner had complied with the Court order to withdraw the officers and provide security. However ostensibly acting under the directive of the presidency, the Commissioner of Police redeployed more officers in three more trucks in disobedience to the court order.”
