The Plateau State Police Commissioner, CP Austin I. Agbonlahor has tasked Journalists to be factual and report objectively to the present insecurity and the activities of his men during and after the festivities including the forthcoming general election.
Agbonlahor gave this appeal during the get together party with media executives, senior police officers of the command and journalists in Plateau state at the police officers mess Jos on Sunday.
He said the cordial working relationship exhibited by media practitioners since he was posted here sometimes in October, 2018 shows clearly that the media are truly objectives in their reportage.
Agbonlahor commended the state NUJ members their resilient and committed to quality reporting which has help in advertising the command achievement and breakthrough in the current fight against crime and criminality to curb the menace of arm robbers.
He applauded the media for helping to enforce the ban on knock out ,restrictions of vehicles movement of keke Napep which was comply with during the Christmas festival and the state recorded hitch free exercise were no casualty .
We also solicit the cooperation of all a sundry ahead of New Year celebration but warning plan criminals that the police will fetch them in their hideout.
He called on the general public see police as their friend, adding, phone number would be available to the people to report any criminal tendency to the nearest station.
Meanwhile, the NUJ Chairman Mr. Paul Jatau also commended the Commissioner creating the conducive atmosphere for his members to interact effectively with his men.
He promised to be objective to the security report and urged his colleagues to balance their report before going to press.
