Plateau PDP Crisis Deepens, Major Party Stakeholders Boycott Stakeholders’ Meeting, Sango Led PDP Passes Vote Of Confidence On Makarfi Camp, Rejects Sheriff

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau Chapter has deepened, as learnt by this medium signs of things happening shows that the party has now divided into two factions. One faction is led by Hon. Chris Hassan who alongside his group are rooting for Ali Modu  Sheriff  who recently won the Appeal Court Case making him the PDP Chairman, also on another hand is led by Damishi Sango who is the Chairman of the party in the State alongside his group are also backing the Markarfi led camp.

As gathered by this medium, the Damishi Sango led PDP in the State at a meeting yesterday has drummed support for Markarfi led PDP, thereby passing a vote of confidence on the Markarfi led PDP, while at the same time they passed a vote of no confidence on Ali Modu Sheriff.

Universalreporters247.com gathered that invitation for yesterday meeting which was communicated to party stakeholders at the wards, local governments and state level was to mobilize supporters to stay away from the Sheriff’s camp, however in spite of the communication for the meeting many party stalwarts and stakeholders never attended the meeting confirming that all is not well with the party.

As learnt by this medium, the closed door meeting only drew party members loyal to Damishi Sango, while those in support of Chris Hassan and Sheriff didn’t show up. Those that who are together with Sango who came for the meeting, include Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, two federal House of representatives members ,Hon Istifanu  Gyang and Hon Solomon Maren , though they all expressed satisfaction with the turnout of the party members for the meeting, universalreporters247.com learnt that apart from the those members supporting Ali Modu Sheriff who didn’t show up for the party, some members of the party who are on the side of Markarfi equally didn’t appear. They include Senator Jang, Fidelis Tapgum who recently said he is back to party, was also missing from the meeting. Even Kemi  Nshe who is being seen Jang’s boy whom this medium learnt he is grooming for the 2019 Governorship election in the State was sighted leaving the meeting even before the start of the meeting, even as he refused to talk with the media.

The crack in the party which has also extended to the State House of Assembly saw only four out of the 8 PDP House of Assembly members attended the party, while the remaining four didn’t attend. Those who attended include Hon. Daniel Dem , Ezekiel Afon ,Hon Nyam Dareng and Kudo Ahile.

While the likes of Hon Kassam and three others who are in support of Chris Hassan and Sheriff boycotted the meeting.

From the National Assembly, members such as Timothy Golu and Beni Lar also didn’t attend the meeting, as well as some stakeholders such Bitrus Kaze, Edward Pwajok, Johnbull Shekarau were also absent from the meeting.

Most of the stakeholders of the party who boycotted the meeting are annoyed with Sango over his statement that there is no zoning, owing to his desire to run for the governorship election come 2019.

He said; “we are ok with Makafi led faction, we are still in full support of the decision of PDP Plateau state in backing Sen. Ahmed Makarfi.

Senator Jeremiah Useni called on the supporters of PDP in Plateau state to remain united, as he vowed that if the Supreme Court Judgment can’t favour them, they are prepared to move to form a fresh political party.

A member of Federal House of Representatives, Hon Isthmus Gyang said the objective of this briefing is to bring to the attention of their members that the leadership of the party had taken a position as its affected the outcome of the appeal court judgment.

He urged the supporters of PDP in plateau state to remain resolute and be committed until the outcome the Supreme Court Judgment.
