A crisis may be brewing again within the Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chapter as the governorship candidate in Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, on Thursday allegedly dumped his political godfather, who is the leader of the PDP in the state Dr. Jonah David Jang and endorsed the Presidential Candidate of the party Atiku Abubakar.
Ex Governor Jonah Jang played a major role in ensuring that Mufwang emerges as the Governorship candidate of the party in the primaries conducted on May 26th, 2022.
Barr. Caleb Mufwang who spoke at the inauguration of officials of the Plateau, Northern zone campaign Council in Jos said we are campaigning for our Presidential Candidate and we in Plateau PDP must deliver him.
He appealed to members of the party to work with him to ensure victory for the PDP from Top to bottom.
We must deliver Atiku and other candidates of our party , he said
It could be recalled that the leader of the PDP in Plateau Jonah Jang had recently withdrawn his support to Atiku Abubakar.
Recently a group known as” Plateau for Atiku Movement” frowned at the withdrawal of the former governor of the state, Senator Jonah Jang from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku’s campaign council.
The group had alleged that Jang’s involvement with the G 5 Governors Port does not represent the thinking of the People’s Democratic Party and its members in Plateau State and called on the G5 governors to embrace peace and work for the success of the Party.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson to former Governor Jang, Clinton Garuba in response said; “Jang has nothing against Atiku. He calls for Ayu to step down, and a southerner takes his place as party chairman. If that is not done, Jang will not partake in the campaign. His desire is for PDP to win Plateau but he fears achieving that with Ayu as chairman. In a nutshell, Mutfwang is not contradicting the position of Jang in any way.
