Plateau LG Elections Tribunal Received 26 Petitions

The Plateau State Local Government Election Petition Trial Tribunal has disclosed the number of petitions filed by the aggrieved political parties seeking the order of the court to disqualify the winning party in Chairmanship and Councillorship seats

The secretary of the Election Trial Tribunal, Mr Nashom Gidado Butswat, spoke with our medium at the secretariat on Monday ,4th November,2024 at West of mines ,Jos North LGA .

He said, so far at least no fewer than 26 petitions has been filed before the election tribunal and out of the numbers we have 7 petitioned for chairmanship seats with 19 for Councillorship seats respectively.

Butswat explained further that Wase LGA Chairmanship they tribunal received two petitions from the Social Democratic Party,SDP, and All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) .

The following LGAs chairmanship candidates for Kanam SDP vs PDP ,Kanke SDP Vs PDP , Pankshin SDP vs PDP,Jos North SDP vs PDP, Qua’anpan SDP vs PDP .

However, the trial tribunal has already issued 14 days’ notice of reply which was also served on all the political parties and notice for service .

Butswat stressed that the 19 wards Councillorship seats were from Shendam ward between APC Vs PDP ,Kwapkilik ward APC against PDP ,Nyak ward APC vs PDP , Shendam (B) ward APC vs PDP ,Peoship ward APC vs PDP, . Riyom LGA,Bum ward LP vs PDP ,Fangroi LP vs PDP,Tse Ward  LP vs PDP Jos North LGA:,Ali Kazaure ward PDP vs NNPP .Wase LGA: Gudus Wase LGA APC vs PDP,Gimbi /Finau ward APC vs PDP, ,Gaji ward Wase Tofa Ward APC vs PDP,Saluwei ward APC vs PDP, Bashir Ward APC vs PDP,Yuli ward APC vs PDP Nyalun ward APC vs PDP,Lamba ward APC vs PDP, while Mangu ward PDP vs APC respectively.
