The Plateau State Chapter of the Labour Party ( LP) has launched an electioneering campaign with the selling of nomination forms for Chairmanship and Councillorship to interested aspirants vying for the 17 local government council seats.
The Chairperson of the party Mrs Grace Zamfara represented by the state secretary, Hon.Bulus Kaze made this disclosure at the state headquarters of the LP at Bukuru Express Jos South LGA.
She said the party is one of the strong oppositions in Nigeria and is prepared for the forthcoming LGs elections in Plateau State.
According to her, with the quality of aspirants vying for the seats of Councillorship and Chairmanship on 9th October 2024, they’re going to sweep the election with a landslide victory.
She expressed satisfaction with the Plateau State Independence Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, for assuring them that the exercise would be free and fair to all the political parties contesting the election in the state.
However, the flag-off electioneering campaign ahead of the timetable, Hon.Grace Zamfara would work hard for the victory of the candidates but assured the Plateau electorate to wisely vote for credible politicians to provide them dividends of democracy at the grassroots level.
The Chairperson also congratulated the Member Representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Asama on his judgment at the election tribunal sitting in Bauchi State.
“You would recall that the election tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Hon . Alkali Abubakar Goni of the Peoples Redemption Party,PRP, challenging the rerun election of Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency,”.
However, owing to the development Labour Party in the state had four state assembly members and three Federal lawmakers Representing Jos East, Barkin-Ladi, and Jos South/Bassa constituencies in Plateau State.
Mrs Zamfara promised the people of Plateau State to transform the political landscape through meaningful development as the party is well accepted across the state.
She applauded Governor Caleb Mutfwang government for providing them with purposeful leadership as he promised not to interfere with the forthcoming LGs elections.
Zamfara reiterated that the party is willing to work together with everyone to ensure that the state moves forward in the area of insecurity, and food security and promotes togetherness with peaceful coexistence amongst the diverse groups in the state.
