The lawmaker was reacting to the one month tenure extension for the appointed management committees Chairmen of the 17 local Government Councils, by Governor Simon Bako and approved yesterday by the House of Assembly.

He said: “I see no fault of the lawmakers, because we have passed the local government law, the PLASIEC bill and screened all the commissioners in the PLASIEC, we’ve passed the budget, at least we have done our part.”

He added that: “It is concrete established facts that the People of Plateau State are yawning for democratically elected chairman and councilors of the Local Government Councils.”

He said PLASIEC, have in the past said they are not conducting elections, due to security challenges, “yet a member was saying when they went oversight functions that election they will conduct elections which is contacting.”

“I for one have never being in favour of the transition committee, I am for democratically elected chairman and councilors, when you look at the law there is nothing transition,” he said.

Hon. Hassan said the People of the State should now know is responsible for the non-conduct of the elections.

The lawmakers made the approval having received another communication that sought for the extension of the tenure, and the communication has attracted disquiet from the members of the House.
