The Chief Judge of Plateau State, His Lordship, Hon.Justice David G. Mann has lauded Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his unwavering support to the judiciary and lawyers in Plateau State .
Justice Mann stated this during the 2025/26 legal year celebration held at High Court premises on Monday in Jos.
He presented the challenges the judges go through in delivering judgment reflecting on the outgoing legal years by highlighting some of the areas that needed to be amended.
Mann disclosed that the number of judges has been reduced from 20-19 due to the recent promotion that one of them got, stressing that many cases are still pending and some of the judgments have been delivered.
He stated that despite the increase in the judges number the court still remain overwhelmed with numerous pending cases as he is appealing for recruitment of additional because of the work load.
David appreciated the judicial service commission for the outstanding letter of recognition of hard work by the Plateau judges by calling on them to remain resolute.
He appealed to the governor to provide conducive environment for judges across the state especially, Sharia, customary, Upper areas, magistrates ,Areas court judges.
David Mann also described the infrastructures development landmark under the present regime as tremendous including the installation of modern e-library with solar energy ,internet connection to world standard.
He explained that due to demand to discharge effective execution of court judgment a police outpost was established within the premises to help ease and enhance access to court ruling .
Mann promised to reward hardworking staff of JUSUN whom might have contributed significantly to revenue generation to the state.
He pointed out that the judiciary also contribute it’s quarter in the area of fees charge on litigation ,he said that the judiciary would continue to partner with the government to ensure justice for all.
Meanwhile, speaking later the Chairman Local Organizing for 2025/26 legal team,Honourable Justice Nanpon Dadi shown appreciation to all those that witnessed the ceremony by Thanking the Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
He said that the events kick-start with Muslims prayer on Friday and Sunday church service to mark the ritual of Catholic Church red traditional Roman.
Dadi expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the security personnel at the display of loyalty to the country constitutional guidelines of colourful occasional dressing of match pass and inspection of brigade of guard by the governor followed by Chief Judge and the registrar Hon Andrawus Maikai (Esq) CR.
Adding, the members of the legal year including Hon. Justice Nafisat Musa,Hon.Boniface Ngyou and Hon. Justice Charles Donglong respectively .
However, the traditional rulers led by Emir of Kanam LGA ,HRH Babagida Abdullahi with the retired judges and retirees.
