Plateau Assembly Speaker Dewan Confirms Court Injunction Order Not To Recognize Factions Of PDP And APC 32 Members

The Eighth (8) Member of the Plateau State House of Assembly resumed plenary on Tuesday after a long recession at the old Government house Rayfield.

“You would recall that the Majority Leader, Member Representing Bokkos state Constituency who spoke on behalf of the sacked 16 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), told journalists that they’re set to resume Legislative business today after some time.

The Sacked members of the PDP by the Appeal Court after Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang victory at the Supreme Court judgment have declared that they were ready to resume work as Legislators to continue with the law-making business but they described the appeal Court judgment that it lacked locus standing to entertain the Pre-election matter “.

The 16 members are led by the former Speaker, Rt.Hon.Moses Sule Representing Mikang state Constituency also battled with thugs at the old Government house that accompanied them due large turnout of supporters.

However, at the old Government House Rayfield, the Majority leader Ishaku Maren met with the 8 authentic members who were going to determine their fate and whether to accept them or reject which side the pendulum sling.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan explained that he has been served with a court injunction so he is waiting for the outcome of it whether the court’s interpretation would favour any of the two camps.

He pleaded with the 16 members of the PDP to exercise more patience to allow the law to take its stand on two separate judgments of Appeal and Supreme Court which are conflicting.

However, there was a heavy presence of Security personnel at the Plateau State House of Assembly on Tuesday that foiled fresh clashes between the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and the All Progressives Congress,(APC) as they dispatched youths gradually assembling to create trouble In the state.

The Nigeria Police Trust Fund rapid intervention vehicles loaded with personnel of the force besieged the complex of the state assembly in anticipation of the 16 members threatening to resume plenary on Tuesday.

The thugs who earlier stormed the state assembly complex were told that the venue for the sitting had been shifted to the old Government House in Rayfield.

Our medium authoritatively gathered that the APC 16 members whom the Appeal Court recognizes are yet to come up with a statement to counter the position of PDP 16 members.

The Speaker Dewan confirmed that he has been served with an injunction order stopping him from aligning and recognizing any of the two factions as members.
