Plateau Assembly Members Move To Reverse Dissolution of Mgt. Committee Chairmen As Lalong Promises Them Automatic Return Ticket, Money-PDP

Information made available to the Peoples Democratic Party indicates that Governor Simon Lalong has desperately been mounting pressure on members of the Plateau State House of Assembly to reverse their resolution of Wednesday 27 June  2018 dissolving the illegal Interim Management Committees across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

We are reliably informed that the intense effort of the governor to persuade members to reverse this popular decision includes making some alluring promises to the lawmakers at a meeting last night.

These include automatic return of the members to the house, irrespective of political party.

A specific amount of money will also be given them as show of “appreciation.”

PDP therefore calls on all members of the House of Assembly to stand as people of honour and reject any enterprise that will only further erode the democratic credentials of Plateau.

They should not be deceived by Governor Lalong’s tantrums of desperation to completely deny Plateau people of their total freedom and liberty through his misrule and incompetence. Plateau must move forward!

The PDP maintains that Honorable members of the state house of assembly should maintain the integrity and independence of the house as the second tier of government and not become the hapless rubberstamp of the governor on such a sensitive and popular decision that affects the people directly.

We therefore call on members to remain resolute to this decision which serves the best interest of the people. It has undoubtedly re-kindled the long-awaited hope of the people that the much-anticipated local government election in Plateau is just around the corner.

Don’t sink with the sinking Governor; instead stand with the people – and leave a daring and undying legacy for yourselves in the hearts of the people.

Sir John T Akans, ksm.

Publicity Secretary
