The Bauchi State commissioner of the Ministry of Housing and Environment, Rt Honorable Danlami Ahmed Kawule said that planting trees will help in securing the future of the unborn generation.
Kawule who is the immediate past deputy speaker in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, said this during the launching of the 2023 annual tree planting campaign with the Theme: Tree planting, an efficient tool to tackle climate change at Dungal housing estimate along Jos Road on Thursday in Bauchi.
” I cannot stress enough how critical it is for me to acknowledge the significant impact of climate change on our planet and take immediate action to combat its effect, adding that rising global temperatures, extreme weather events, and the loss of biodiversity are just a few of the consequences we face”
He said that planting trees are not only majestic and beautiful but they are essential for survival in order to provide people with oxygen to absorb carbon dioxide and also play a role in regulating climate.
He further said that the 2023 planting exercise is a roadside plantation that covers a distance of 12.6km
According to the commissioner, said that ” I encourage each and every one of us to embrace this opportunity and actively participate in our tree planting efforts” he added
