PIDAN Urges Plateau People To Resist Temptation Of Violence By Yakubu Busari, Jos

A Socio-Cultural  group in Plateau state under the aegis of the plateau Initiative for development and Advancement for Natives, PIDAN has urged the People of the state and the government to desist from acts that will further throw the state into another round of crises.

The group made this call yesterday in Jos during a press conference, even as it expressed dismay over the current political antecedents in the state.

The spokesperson and President   of the group Dr. Abok Madaki said, “we have observed with utmost dismay that the current political antecedent in plateau state has not provided the desired platform for equity and justice for the people”.

He said a situation where a section of a tribe is fighting for dominance both politically and socially to the detriment of over 56 other tribes in the state is unacceptable.

Stressing that, “Plateau has had its own fair share of turbulent times. We have suffered it and we are not prepared to go back to those dark days. We are determined to protect the fragile peace the Plateau state is currently enjoying”.

The group is however calling on national leadership of all the community Development Association to initiate dialogue at all levels within their respective communities that will foster peaceful coexistence and to report any individual or group that are bent on promoting violence through either their actions or utterances to the security agencies.

He said, PIDAN is a non-religious, and non profit making organization which provides an umbrella networking among the autochthonous community development associations in plateau state.

Adding that the association was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2002 with registration number, CAC/IT/NO 60684 with the aim of fostering unity, peace and progress of members, build capacity of individual Association for effective community work and enhance the image of the state.
