Photos: How Man Butchered His Girlfriend’s Sister, Attempted Killing His Girlfriend In Plateau

A  man named Stephen Pam in Plateau was last week Friday arraigned by a Magistrates Court in Jos for alleged murder of his girlfriend’s sister as well as an attempted murder of the girlfriend.

Narrating the incident at the Court last Friday the girlfriend, told the Court how the boyfriend killed her elder Sister with Machete and also attempted killing her, however she survived the attack after being unconscious for two days with a 7 month old pregnancy then.

According to Justina Dusu the girlfriend to the suspect stated that her sister, the late Miss Simi Dusu who met her Waterloo on the 27th July, 2016 at Tudun Wada suburb of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State was butchered by the boyfriend Stephen Pam, however, for her Justina Dusu she was lucky as she survived the deep Machete cut which damaged her left eye.

The lover, Miss Justina Dusu who survived the carnage told the court that she met Stephen Pam sometimes in 2007 at Mai Edon Toro when they started dating, then she was still in secondary school and after her secondary school education she left to Abuja to join the elder sister Simi Dusu Chado in Abuja and that even the distance there were still communicating on phone always.

 

Miss Justina said; “I came back in May 2016 when I visited him twice, the second visit we had sex and after some few weeks I discovered that I was pregnant, I went to hospital to conduct test then and the doctor after the scanned, he told me that I’m pregnant, and I called him, Stephen Pam on phone that that I am pregnant.”

“Few days later he called me that we should meet, then he came down to Bukuru Low-cost junction we met and he asked me to terminate the pregnancy and I refused, immediately my elder Sister Late Simi came back from her journey and I told her that my boyfriend Stephen has impregnated me, and that he is asking me to abort the pregnancy.”

“She said no that I should give her his number to call him, which I did, she called him and asked him to come so that we can talk over the issue but he kept on bringing different excuses that his parents sent him packing out of the house because of the pregnancy.”

“However, with all the calls, he refused pick any of our subsequent calls, she decided that we should go to his parents to inform them of what is happening.”

“On the  fateful day on our way to see his parents, I saw him dropping at Sabon Gari junction from a motorcycle, then I told my Elder Sister late Simi that, that person is  Stephen,  that was also the first time of he and my late sister meeting each other, so they started talking and he said they should go to his to place and complete the discussion, as such issues is not right to discuss outside, we all agree to go inside his house,  so on getting there we inquired if his parents are around, he said no ,he quickly showed us the younger sister outside, so my late sister said we are here to see your parents not you.”

“At that point my elder sister phone ranged, so she went outside his room to answer the call and he asked me Justina did you come to stay or what, I’m not ready to  father that child now and he asked late Simi to excuse us for talk.”

“Stephen then drew very close to me and he said please Justina come close, immediately  I noticed  an object like machete and before I could say anything, he used one iron to  hit me on the side of my left eye down to the neck, and  when I shouted, that attracted late Simi who rushed into the room and she screamed by forcing the door open but Stephen have locked the door,  she shouted for help ,no one was there to help, so Simi managed to break the door and Stephen machete her and she was struggling to collect the machete from him.”

Then, Stephen turned back to her and started using the machete on the head, neck sliding her brain opened with the machete, by then I was laying helplessly as I saw how Stephen was cutting her neck and the next thing I noticed myself inside the Hwolshe Medical centre (lencope), unfortunately Simi died 30 minutes before she was taken to the theatre and later I regain my consciousness two days later.

Owing to the nature of the case and how important it is that justice must be served to show to others that they can’t escape punishment should they commit such acts, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Plateau Chapter has taken the case upon themselves following the inability of Dusu’s family to continue with the case owing to financial difficulty. Meanwhile the Plateau State Chairman, of NAWOJ, Mrs Jennifer Yerima has condemned in its totality the rising cases of violence against women in Plateau state.

She said; “this case has attracted the general interest of female journalists on the Plateau because part of the mandate in their association is to give voice to the voiceless in the society.

Mrs Yerima lamented that vulnerable people are always abused and exposed to danger in the society if they don’t have a voice to speak for them.

Secondly, this case is that of sexual and gender base violence that NAWOJ stand up to condemn it, its respective of who you are in the society.

“We just want justice to be given to whoever deserves it in the society, delaying on the prosecution of murder case, we are afraid this might not yield the expected results” she explained.

“We commend the judiciary for it pragmatic approach to this matter, we are sad to see that the accused person machete them and chopped off the left side of the hand and spill brain of the deceased with several cuts inflicted on the sisters,” she said.
