Pene Da Bwatiye Development Association Calls For Calm Amid Rising Tensions In Numan Federation

The Pene Da Bwatiye Development Association (PDBDA) has urged communities within the Numan Federation to maintain peace and respect the recently signed accord aimed at restoring stability in the region.

In a joint statement signed by James Dickson Iliya, President, and Emmanuel Pwakavi Bapatu General Secretary, the association expressed deep concern over a publication titled “Understanding Peace, Love, and Respect”, circulated by Dan Tsobo TV and widely shared across social media platforms, including a Hausa-language version.

The PDBDA described the publication as “provocative and inflammatory,” warning that it posed a direct challenge to the constituted authorities and threatened the fragile peace being nurtured among the Rigangun, Waduku, and Tsobo communities.

The statement recalled the recent peace accord signed between the Bwatiye communities of Rigangun and Waduku and the Tsobo community, describing the agreement as “a crucial milestone toward reconciliation and lasting peace.”

The association also highlighted its earlier intervention in the conflict on July 8, 2025, when it called for calm and dialogue. Unfortunately, this appeal was not heeded, resulting in loss of lives, property destruction, and the imposition of a curfew by the Adamawa State Government.

Reaffirming its dedication to peaceful resolution through dialogue, the PDBDA condemned the recent social media posts, warning that such rhetoric could reignite hostilities and undermine ongoing peace efforts.

“Such rhetoric is an ill wind that will blow no good,” the statement read. “It risks undermining the fragile peace and reversing the progress made toward reconciliation.”

The association called on the Adamawa State Government to enforce the peace accord rigorously, ensure full compliance from all parties, and take swift action against individuals or groups who use social media to incite violence or spread misinformation.

The statement concluded with a heartfelt appeal for restraint, understanding, and ongoing dialogue among all parties involved.

“Peace is not merely the absence of conflict,” the PDBDA emphasized, “but the active presence of justice, dialogue, and mutual respect
