The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nasarawa’ South Senatorial Candidate of the candidate for Nasarawa south senatorial zone under the auspices of the opposition political party, Honorable Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has raised alarm over the rising spate of permanent voters’ card buying and selling in the country.
The two-time and former House of Representatives member for Awe/Doma/Keana federal constituency called for strict adherence to the amended twenty twenty-two electoral Act for credible elections next this.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo made the call while speaking to Universal Reporters Online in Doma recently.
He said the act has spelled out steps and processes for conducting free, fair, and credible elections in the country hence, the electorate is given the right to vote for the candidate of his choice
Onawo, who is a one-time Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Doma north constituency expressed concern over the way and manner people engage in selling and buying permanent voter cards which is against the law.
The former House of Representatives member, now a senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party Nasarawa South cautioned the electorate against selling their permanent voter cards as that would de-enfranchise them during elections.
According to Onawo, since there is a law to that effect, sellers and buyers of such cards should be arrested and made to face sanctions.
He advocated support of all stakeholders to the Independent National Electoral Commission reporting those in the act to the security as such will enhance the successful general election in twenty twenty-three.
He however called on his supporters to shun the campaign of calumny doing and after the election.
