The National leadership of People’s Democratic Party National Youth Empowerment Strategy (PDP-N-YES), has called on the Ali Madu Sheriff and Ahmad Makarfi led groups to sheath their swords in the overall interest of the party.
The group in a statement issued by its acting national coordinator Hon. Kabiru Sani Garkuwa, said it is better for the two groups to work towards; “resolving the impasse between them for the betterment our party and democracy.”
The statement further commended some of the founding members of the PDP who despite losing power did not defect from the Party.
”We must commend his excellency former Governor Sule Lamido and his likes for standing firm in their political ideology of the PDP, though we have lost in the last elections, yet Lamido still believes in what he has built,” Garkuwa said.
The PDP-N-YES appealed to Lamido not to deter from his quest of putting the party onto its rightful place towards regaining democratic momentum and winning elections in the year 2019.
It said: “The national leadership of the PDP-N-YES are currently in an acting capacity and plans are in place for the national congress to hold in the last quarter of the year to usher in a substantive national executives in fostering for the nation a formidable opposition party to greater heights.”
It calls on its 36 state structures to commence the process of congresses aimed at getting set for the national congress .
It stressed supports for the party’s decision of seeding the presidential candidate to the North come 2019 elections.
”Our aim is to bring back the party to centre of governance come 2019 with a Presidential flag bearer from any of the Northern states of our great nation.”
