Paris/London Club Refund: Al-Makura Lied, Nasarawa Received N24 billion And Not N8.4 billion–Labaran Maku

An erstwhile minister of Information, Labaran Maku has expressed discontentment with the way and manner people of Nasarawa state are wallowing in squalor, agony, stagnation, hunger and poverty, the governorship contender under the auspices of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2015 governorship race has said.

The former minister affirmed that chunk amount of money was received by the government of Nasarawa state under, governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, he listed the amount collected to include N18bn bailout, billions under the Subsidy Reinvestment and economic programme of president Goodluck (SURE-P).

Maku said chunk amount of money was accrued to the state as ecological fund ,excluding N30bn commercial bank loan,N400m for 2012 flood disaster, money from Universal Basic Education Commission, Local government Sure-p and state Sure-padding that the entire amount translate to huge amount of money, saying the populace of Nasarawa state has no cause to suffer hardship.

While commenting on the Paris and London club refund to Nasarawa state, the APGA governorship contender said a whopping $61m which was N24bn released to the state as against earlier announced N8.4bn refund ,he stated the state would collect a total of $121m in all.

Labaran Maku stated this when APGA chieftain paid him Christmas homage at Wakma, he further maintained that the current government in the state did not construct up to forty kilometres of road linking any local government headquarters.

In the area of road projects he said that the governor constructed not more than 40km roads which translate to N2bn for N2km, everybody is aware that the only longest road in Al-Makura’s projects is Tudun Gwandara—Kwandare road.

On Airport project, Labaran Maku cautioned governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to return the N17bn earmarked for the project to the treasury of the state.

He said the change in Nasarawa state did not translate to something, he gave assurance that APGA would take over of the state in 2019 ” Maku stated the 2015 election was Between development and selfishness governance”.

Maku pleaded with the governor to pay workers in full so as to increase purchasing power, Maku opined that the state is in dire need of prayer, asking “Is Nasarawa state under cause ?”.

The state commissioner of finance, Dominic Bako could not be reached for comment, at the time of filling this report, as he didn’t respond to calls.
