There was panic In Egbon Community of Obi Local Government Area of the State leading to the death of three persons while a just wedded bride was abducted by the suspected herders.
The attacked was coming less than 24 hours after peace talk was held between the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and his Nasarawa State counterpart, Governor, Engr.Abdullahi Alhaji.Sule.
As at press time, Jonathan who spoke with universalreporters.ng confided that the community is leaving peaceful with the attackers whom he identified as Fulani’s nomads.
When asked whether Egbon community has a sticky relationship with Fulani’s, he asserted that they live as brothers and sisters with Fulani’s without any misunderstanding.
According to Jonathan, “We don’t know what our offense was” he exclaimed.
Nasarawa State Chairman of Miyyeti Allah, Muhammed Hussaini in a telephone conversation refuted the claim by the TIVs, saying the recent attack has no direct linked to herders.
“It was a clash between two factions of TIV which has no link whatsoever”.
President of Tiv Development Association, Boniface Ifer in a telephone interview affirmed that the killings of Tivs in Egbon were setup by people identified as Tiv.
“It was connivance by our people and as I’m speaking to you now I had information that the woman abducted has been freed by her abductors”.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP. Ismaila Usman could not be reached for comment as he didn’t respond to his calls and text messages forwarded to his phone.
