Ovumnte Community In Ebony Issues Pre-Action Notice To The Police Service Commission Over Unaddressed Complaints Of Misconduct Against SP Nwornu Daniel

The Ovumnte Community of Ebonyi State has issued a pre-action to the Police Service Community with respect to unaddressed complaints of professional misconduct against SP Nwornu Daniel C. DPO in charge of the Divisional Police Post in Ivo LGA, Ebonyi State.

According to notice of action served by Ogbonna Paul Arochukwu, Esq, The Attorney to the People of Ovumnte Community, he said; “The People of Ovumnte Community in Amagu, Ishiagu in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State, Nigeria have now formally served the Nigerian Police Service Commission with a Notice of Intention to Commence Legal Proceedings (Pre-Action Notice) with respect to unaddressed complaints of gross misconduct against SP. Nwornu Daniel C., DPO in Charge of the Divisional Police Post in Ivo LGA, Ebonyi State.”

According to the attorney, he said; “Members of the Ovumnte Community and the people of Ishiagu have earlier filed several complaints of SP. Nwornu Daniel’s misconduct to the Nigerian Police Service Commission and the all the complaints were received by the Commission. Despite receiving the complaints of the People of Ovumnte Community, the Nigerian Police Service Commission has not taken any steps to perform its lawful duties to either investigate or sanction the said SP. Nwornu Daniel C.”

“Given the state of affairs, the said SP. Nwornu Daniel C., has continued to abdicate his duties and act unprofessionally with great impunity and with deep bias towards the people of Ovumnte Community and thereby further putting their lives and properties in immense danger and at the mercy of powerful individuals who want to forcefully evict them and acquire their ancestral lands.

“The People of Ovumnte Community are peaceful and law abiding citizens of Nigeria who are entitled to the protection of the Nigerian Police and therefore request that the SP. Nwornu Daniel C., should be held accountable for abdicating his duties and acting unprofessionally with great impunity and with deep bias.

“At the expiration of one month, the People of Ovumnte Community shall commence legal proceedings against the Nigerian Police Service Commission in a Federal High Court and seek an Order of Mandamus to compel the Commission to perform its duties with respect to the complaints of professional misconduct made against SP. Nwornu Daniel C.”
