Over Five hundred vulnerable people are to benefit from a Free Cataract surgery sponsored by the Bauchi state government in collaboration with Muslim World League, a Saudi-based organisation.
This was disclosed by the state Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed at the official launching of the exercise held in Specialist Hospital Bauchi.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the state government Ibrahim Muhammad Kasim said, the gesture was to help the less privileged and vulnerable in the society who have cataract problems.
He, therefore, commended the Muslim World League for their support, assuring that his administration remains resolute to bring succor to its people especially the less privileged and vulnerable groups
In a remark, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Umar, Ophthalmologist Consultant with Muslim World League, a Saudi-based organization described Cataract as a disease that leads to people becoming blind, hence the need to always consult experts with a view to overcoming it.
Dr Murtala Muhammad Umar added that Bauchi state is one of the three benefitting states in the north after Gombe and Jigawa, assured to work with the state government in order to bring more intervention from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Earlier in his address, the Chief Medical Director of Special hospital, Bauchi Dr. Ya’u Hameed called on people to come out in mass in order to benefit from the gesture.
