The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Nasarawa State Council, Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali, has appealed to his yet-to-be successor to build on the unity he left behind.
Adding that any of his successors should strive to ensure the unity of the NUJ in Nasarawa State.
He, however, advised members to be committed to unionism at all times.
“All my breakthroughs as a two-time State Chairman will be made available to members”.
Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali gave kudos to the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for his gesture in supporting the union in almost all ramifications.
Also speaking, the General Manager of the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, Patricia Akawu while addressing the members of Nasarawa NUJ, commended the outgoing Chairman, Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali.
She urged the yet-to-be incoming Chairman of the Union, as she called on members of the Union to always abide by the norms of the Union.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Nasarawa State, Ibrahim Addra also insisted on commitment to the Union.
He urged members to always support what is good for the development of Nasarawa State, he however advise members to talk less and work harder ahead of bigger responsibility ahead.
Dr.Ibrahim Tanko, the State Commissioner of Information in his speech, hailed Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali for running the affairs of the Union without fear or favor.
He also pleaded with the members of the various chapels to handle the game according to the rules; he, however, urged all contestants not to see the election as a do-or-die affair.
The Chairman of the electoral committee, Kalu Edika Kalu, thanked the Union for the responsibility bestowed on him and promised to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.
