Ondo PDP Crisis: Sheriff Faction Disowns Inuwa Bwala, Stands by Jimoh Ibrahim

The Sheriff Faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has disowned statements credited to Mr Inuwa Bwala on its Ondo governorship ticket, insisting that Jimoh Ibrahim remains the candidate of the party for the forthcoming poll.

In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Prof Adewale Oladipo, the party said Bwala has no authority to speak for the faction.

The full statement reads as follows:

“The attention of the PDP National Working Committee under the leadership of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has been drawn to a mischievous statement credited to Mr Inuwa Bwala purporting to be speaking for Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.

“The statement in question is false and senator sheriff stands solidly behind and in total support of Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim as the only authentic PDP candidate in the November 26 2016 election in ondo state.

“The NWC therefore calls on all PDP stakeholders in ONDO State and the INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION TO RESPECT AND ABIDE by the orders of the court and recognize Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP Governorship candidate in Ondo State.

“The media is hereby put on notice that any statement not confirmed from the national secretary or any member of the National Working Committee of the Party should be discountenanced going forward”, the statement noted.
