Olu-Owerri Insists On Suspension Of Former PG, Opara

Dan Opara

The leadership of the apex sociocultural organization in Imo State known as Olu-Owerri People’s Assembly, OPA, ably led by the President General, Hon.Amb.Wisdom Ekewuba,JP, has insisted that the suspension of the immediate past PG, Chief Martin Opara, remains sacrosanct.

Speaking during a press conference held in Owerri, on Monday, March 7th 2022, the newly appointed President General of Olu-Owerri, Amb.Ekewuba, told Newsmen that the removal (suspension)  of Chief Opara as the President General was due to his activities in active politics, even as he disclosed that Chief Opara is at the moment serving as the Director General,DG, Uche Onyeagucha Campaign Organization for the 2023 Owerri Zone Senatorial aspiration of his principal.

Ekewuba, while speaking, said, ” We (Olu-Owerri members) have collectively suspended Chief Opara because of his ugly political involvement. Any member of Olu-Owerri is free and at liberty to join any political party but such member is not allowed to be engaged with any political position. But the case of Opara was obviously seen as he was guilty by upholding that office of DG Onyeagucha Campaign Organization”, OPA PG hinted.

“According to the constitution of Olu-Owerri, no member of the association is permitted to bare any political position, unless such member resigned from the organization as a member for the political position he/she must have chosen. We are aware that Chief Opara is still parading himself as the PG and we are using this opportunity to inform the general public to disregard him. He has been officially suspended and his suspension remains sacrosanct”, Ekewuba submitted.

The OPA PG, Ekewuba, furthermore stated that Olu-Owerri has no faction, added that he is in charge of the organization as a nonpartisan organization in the state.

“It is very vital to strengthen the records that Olu-Owerri People’s Assembly, OPA, is not a personal property or sole project of any person, rather a sociocultural organization established and targeted at enthroning an Owerri (Zone) Man of integrity as the next Imo State Governor, come 2023”, Ekewuba meant.

“As a member of Olu-Owerri, you are free to join any political party but you are free to be appointed with any political position”, OPA PG Ekewuba submitted.

Some of the executive members of the nine (9) Local Government Areas that made up Owerri Zone Senatorial District who were present at the press conference includes:” Amb. Wisdom Ekewuba,(PG), Comr. Obilo Sunday Osuji, (Secretary General), Comr.Collins Ohiri, from Owerri North, Comr. Ugo ,from Ezinihitte Mbaise, Prince David, from        Ahiazu Mbaise, Comr.Daniel Ndodim, from Owerri Municipal, Comr.Mrs.Adaku Oparaeke (Women Leader) from Owerri West, and Comr.Douglas Princemola, from Mbaitoli, amongst other members present too many to mention.

Meanwhile, the President General of Olu-Owerri, Amb.Ekewuba, had a Media Chat with some journalists earlier, said, ” Our major political and leadership concern is to ensure that a technocrat from Owerri Zone succeeds the outgoing Imo Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma in 2023″.

He therefore appealed to the people of Imo State to go and obtain their individual Permanent Voter’s Cards,PVC, which according to him, remains the power to elect the right and most acceptable person as Governor in the state.
