The entire members of Olu-Owerri People’s Assembly, OPA , was on Wednesday 18th 2022, joyfully elected it’s member, Hon. Comrade Amb. Wisdom Ekewuba (JP) as the President General, PG, of the organization.
The congress exercise which took place at the play ground of Ikenegbu Girls Secondary School Owerri, attracted all the registered members of the organization from across the Nine (9) Local Government Areas of Owerri Zone, witnessed large turn out members who happily elected Amb.Ekewuba as the President General of Olu-Owerri.
The members collectively sworn-in the newly elected President General.
It is on record that Olu Owerri Peoples Assembly is an apex Sociocultural cum Sociopolitical Organization in Owerri Zone Extraction of Imo State, which was established and duly registered as a sociocultural organization aimed and targeted at ensuring that the people of Owerri Zone produces the next Imo Governor come 2023/2024 Governorship Polls.
Speaking to newsmen during a Press Conference, the newly elected President General of Olu-Owerri People’s Assembly, Amb.Ekewuba, who hails from Avu Autonomous Community in Owerri West LGA, Imo State, expressed satisfaction upon the successful congress that brought him in as President General.
He therefore promised to ensure that only credible individual (technocrat) from Owerri Zone Extraction of Imo State will be elected as Governor of the state in 2023/2024 as the electioneering calendar may be according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The newly elevated President General of Olu-Owerri, Amb.Ekewuba, in his words, assured the people of Owerri Zone of his leadership capacity, wisdom and sagacity to lead the organization to greater heights.
The President General therefore disclosed that he is very passionate to deliver effectively to the mandates of the organization.
Ekewuba, however promised to carry all the members of the association along, added that he is ever ready to enthrone an Owerri Zone man as Gov.Hope Uzodinma’s successor in 2023/2024 guber polls in Imo.
The Olu-Owerri President General, Comr.Wisdom, while briefing newsmen, said,” I am poised to reform Olu-Owerri. I will make sure that the people of Owerri Zone come together for unity. We need the support of Okigwe Zone, and Orlu Zone and the entire people of the state. In Owerri Zone, we have been marginalized for so many decades and we are appealing for the governorship position for the sake of equity, fairness and justice”, Ekewuba submitted.
Some of the critical stakeholders of the organization who were in attendance at the press conference includes: Hon.Sir.Dr.Evans Williams aka Owelle PDP, from Ikeduru LGA, and Comr.Promise Ndubuisi Ashimole, from Ngor-Okpala, amongst other members of the organization.
Adding their voices, Sir.Evans Williams, and Comr.Promise Ashimole, collectively commended the newly elected PG and advised him to deliver effectively as the leader of the group.
The duo leaders of Olu-Owerri encouraged Amb.Ekewuba to use his position as the PG to enthrone an Owerri man as Imo Governor in 2024.
It could be recalled that the immediate past President General of Olu-Owerri People’s Assembly,Hon.Chief Martins Opara, from Ngor-Okpala LGA of Imo State, is now the Director General,DG, of Hon.Barr.Uche Onyeagucha, who is nursing his political ambition represent Owerri Zone Extraction at the Senate in the 2023/2024 polls.
