Olowo’s Death: Plateau Yoruba Youths Commiserates with Ondo Government, Owo People

The Plateau State Yoruba Youth Forum, PYYF, has commiserated with the Ondo State Government, the Owo people, and the Yoruba race generally on the demise of Oba Folagbade Olateru Olagbegi, Olowo of Owo, who joined his ancestors last Tuesday at 77.

 

The group described the late Oba as a great man who devoted his life to uniting the Yoruba people, describing his demise as a great loss to the Yoruba nation.

 

In a press release issued today, Tuesday in Jos, Plateau state capital and signed by its Chairman, Comrade Olaniyan Yemi John, and the General Secretary,  Comrade Nureni Olawuni Adekunle, the group said it received the news of the demise of the monarch as a rude shock but noted that he lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation.

 

PYYF said that the late Oba’s passion for education which earned him the appointment of the Chancellor of the University of Benin in 2005 and later the Chancellor, University of Abuja was exemplary. Until his demise, he was the Chancellor of the University of Jos and former Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas.

 

The group added that Oba Olagbegi while on the throne of his forefathers was an epitome of royalty, full of wisdom, dignity and always seek the peace of the nation which makes his impact and influence to transcend his immediate domain. His demise is a colossal loss to the nation and he would be greatly missed.

 

The Yoruba youth group personally commiserates with the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu who is a son of Owo kingdom.

 

The Plateau State Yoruba Youth Forum, PYYF, is a registered group which seeks to bring Yoruba community together under one umbrella to promote peaceful coexistence and Yoruba interests especially as it affects youths in Nigeria and Plateau state in particular.
