Olejeme, In Lagos, Tasks Nigerians On Nation Building

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Delta State, Dr. Ngozi Olejeme on Sunday advised Nigerians to jettison selfish interest, love their country more and think about what they could do for the country as a way of fostering unity and progress.

“We must repudiate the politics of extremism and political intolerance. We must aim high and make meaningful contribution to our various communities. We must keep alive the principles of love and tolerance. We must keep the unity of this country inviolate. We must apply our knowledge for the advancement of our country” she said

Speaking at the 2014 Non-Yoruba Peoples Cultural Festival in Lagos, the Delta State gubernatorial aspirant said; “What it takes for any society to develop is not only the resilience of the people but the commitment, dedication, personal experience and wide contacts of its leaders”.

“I have what it takes to run a better, open government that will bring progress, restore the dignity of the average Delta man and give the desired respect to traditional institutions, elders and the people” she said.

Promising to provide quality leadership for all Deltans, Olejeme said she would advance towards the vision of a united Delta.

“I’ll advance towards a strong Delta, a prosperous Delta, a peaceful Delta, a just Delta, indeed a great Delta. I’ll provide quality leadership for all Deltans. I’ll impact positively on the lives of the people. I’ll tackle the menace of poverty, hunger and the increasing rate of ignorance in the state. I’ll ensure that children get free and compulsory qualitative education while the elders enjoy adult literacy programme. I’ll turn Delta State into an industrially rich business environment. I’ll institutionalize mechanize farming. I’ll provide basic infrastructure, create employment opportunities and also provide enabling environment for people to come and invest in the state. I’ll look beyond Federation Accounts. I’ll create wealth and improve healthcare in the state. I’ll develop the rural areas. I’ll put smile on the faces of civil servants and pensioners” she promised.

She stressed that development was only possible through honest, credible leadership imbued with a sense of mission and a clear appreciation of the needs of the people.

Extoling the virtues of President Goodluck Jonathan, Olejeme said; “Nigeria is much better today.

“In the last four years, the country took giant steps forward in every sphere of life. The President is doing a lot to encourage women. He is appointing them to be ministers, advisers and board chairmen. He will be happy to see many women pass through into the elective positions in 2015.  Nigeria needs President Jonathan in 2015 to reach the envisaged heights” she said.

“PDP will form the government in 2015. The voters are prepared to use their vote to ensure the success of the party in Nigeria, particularly Delta State” she added.
