Olam Farms Is Not A Blessing Rather A Curse To Doma Local Government-Deputy Chairman

The Acting Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, the host community housing Olam Farms, the largest rice farm situated in Nasarawa State has said Olam Farms is not a blessing rather a curse to Doma Local Government.

The Deputy Chairman, Hon  Osokunu Simon Atukpa gave the disclosure during an  exclusive interview with selected Journalists at the council Secretariat.

Atukpa explained that Olam Farms has no economic benefit which he reeled out to include lack or nonexistence of social corporate responsibility to the host community.

“I learnt that those before us benefited from revenue generated from Olam Farms but on assumption of office as the overseer of Ekye Development Area barely one year in office I had never collected a penny as revenue from Olam,as an official of Doma South”.

“I learnt that the company is paying money to the State Government, that is what I know about Olam Farms.

Osukunu maintained that it is only Rukubi and Ijiwo that are the main beneficiaries of the olive branches of the Singaporean company while Doma, the mother Local Government and Agbashi, the administrative head of Ekye is not benefiting anything from the multi billion naira company.

“Olam is not a blessing rather a curse “because the company supposed to extend it corporate social responsibility to Doma, Agbashi, the headquarters of Ekye Development Area”, he insisted.

Adding that he didn’t have the knowledge whether the present overseer is collecting revenue from Olam Farms, he added.

Hon. Atukpa while speaking on the insecurity that looms in Doma asserted that the Chairman of the council, Hon.Rabo Sani is doing his possible best to curtail the security challenges that bedeviled the locality.
