The crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress, APC Delta state chapter seems to have taken another turn following an alleged N13.5 million given to the party as Christmas gift by the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.

A source who pleaded anonymity hinted that the Xmas gift was delivered on 24th December to the party through the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachukwu who is said to be an ally of Okowa.

”Governor Okowa has bought the leadership of APC in Delta. He controls the party and dictates how the party is ran through his Anioma brother, Ibe Kachukwu who has in the past sponsored his elections”, the source disclosed.

Checks by this medium reveal that the state government pays APC state excos led by Prophet Jones Erue N5 million monthly to run the affairs of the party. In early December last year, the sum of N10 million was released by governor Okowa to the party.

On the 30th of same December last year, another sum of N600,000 was given to the party through his SSA on Inter-party Affairs as Christmas gift. The money was handed over to the state’s party secretary, Comrade Chidi Okonji on behalf of Delta APC.

When our correspondent contacted Comrade Okonji, he confirmed our story, but disclosed that the sum of N600,000 was not given to him rather N500,000 which he collected N250,000 and handed over the remaining N250,000 to state chairman as directed by Prophet Jones.

According to the state party scribe, trouble said to have started when he ask the state chairman to return the party bus donated by Atiku Abubakar, and to call SEC meeting to address burning issues including the N13.5m Xmas gift given to the party, to account for the monthly N5m and to stop using his personal account to siphon money from our party.

Efforts to reach Prophet Erue were futile as his phone was switched off. An SMS sent to his line was undelivered at the time of filling this report.
