- Says He Will Remain In APC To Achieve His Senatorial Seat
Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has confirmed that his son in law, Uche Nwosu is going to join another party to achieve his governorship ambition, adding that other of his boys who are contesting for other positions will also join another party to get their different electoral positions, but as for him, he will remain in the party to run for Orlu Senatorial district seat under the All Progressives Party, APC.
The Governor made the statement when had an interactive session with Journalists in the State, speaking at the Government House, he described the media as the only fastest means of propagating information, even as he disclosed that he called the media to update them concerning his Rescue Mission led government and his achievements so far in the state.
The Governor, while speaking maintained that his administration has superseded all his campaign promises made in the past 7- 8 years, cutting across his free education policy, rural roads constructions and urban renewal, infrastructural wise, amongst other developmental giant strides under his watch.
Chief Rochas said his government has completed over 90% projects from across the 27 LGA’s of the state including the state capital, which he described as monumental projects worth over millions of naira for the development of the state.
“We have built 6 Universities,4 Polytechnics,2 Colleges of Education and 1 College of Health Technology. Teachers are being paid as at when due. Eke-Ukwu Owerri Market Douglas Road and New Market Owerri are now Hospital aimed at saving lives. The Imo International Cargo Airport will be commissioned very soon. We built a new complex for Police and Prisons Headquarters, they are all monumental projects. Some of the projects in the state have undergone 75-80 completion, while so many of the projects have been fully completed, waiting to be commissioned soonest. We are now paying salaries in advance; the sum of N5billion has been mapped out for pension arrears, which will cost about N144billion per month for pensioners. My government has done very well more than all the past governments in Imo”, Rochas submitted.
He, therefore, maintained that his administration has encouraged development in the three senatorial zones of the state.
“I have made Owerri the fastest city in Nigeria apart from Lagos and Abuja. I have touched lives in all ramifications. I have done great wonders in Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri zones” he said.
Governor Okorocha who spoke on the current political trends in Imo APC and other parties expressed regret over what he described as a high level of injustice melted against mandates given to some of the party faithful who contested during the last primaries by the National Chairman, Comr. Adams Oshiohmole, who allowed wrong candidates to emerge.
“Imposition of Imo case of APC flagbearers (candidates) by Oshiohmole was a high level of injustices. But I will remain in APC to contest for Senate Orlu zone in 2019. With me, nothing has changed, but it is the worst thing that has happened in Imo APC”, says Okorocha.
“Ahead of the next year polls, Imo people should not vote for wrong people, whether in APC, APGA, and PDP. We must vote for the most popular candidates”, the Governor noted.
“All the party’s Guber candidates especially from PDP, APC and APGA were imposed on the people of Imo State and it is called robbery of freedom. I cannot stop those aggrieved boys (aspirants in APC) who have decided to join another political party. It is part of their electoral right hence democracy is concerned”, he revealed.
The Governor Rochas therefore in his words vindicated President Mohammadu Buhari from the wicked actions of Oshiohmole.
“I know Buhari does not support the injustice played by Adams. My people in APC are going to join any other party with Buhari as their Presidential candidate irrespective of the party. For me, I will remain in APC for Senate Orlu zone in 2019. Imolites are now wiser and more reasonable now than in the past”, Okorocha stated.
“Between Ikedi Ohakim, Emeka Ihedioha, Ifeanyi Araraume, Hope Uzodinma and other Guber contenders, Hon. Uche Nwosu remains the best. He will do very much better if elected as my successor. I am supporting Nwosu because he has investments here in Imo State unlike Araraume, Uzodinma, Ihedioha, and others”, he reiterated.
