The 4th Ogomo Pengana Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, His Royal Highness, Isau Mamman Shayang has appealed to security personnel to increase more checkpoints in his domain to curb the menace of the house to house armed robbery syndicate ravaging their communities.
HRH Shayang stated this at his palace in Ogomo Pengana Chiefdom in Jingre, Plateau State to mark his one year in office.
He said on assumption of office on the 13th January 2017, he remembered the overwhelming support he received from all the ethnic tribes under Pengana chiefdom.
According to him, the mantle of leadership given to him is not an easy task but added that God chooses him to lead his people to love and understanding.
Shayang disclosed that as a seasoned administrator he has been using his wealth of experience to the benefit of people going as seen in the peace they are currently enjoying except around Tariya ,Kwan where some group of armed robbery syndicate has been involved in an open confrontation with the natives.
“We have achieved peaceful coexistence which the present government of Governor Simon Bako Lalong is preaching, we are trying to see that everybody leave in peace “, HRH says.
Adding further he said; “if we all agree to leave in peace, there are those whose lives are bend to cause havoc and confusion either on high way or on people houses.The presence of security is very vital in curbing the menace of armed robbery syndicate involved in open house to house stealing.
“We appeal to the government to introduce a measure in the night to help block the Jingre ,Amor Katako road where this dastardly act takes place, we appeal to the youth around Fuska Mata ,Santa to support the security patrol team to reduce crime and criminality in the area.
Shayang maintained that they have vigilante group who help in patrolling the area but they are not receiving help from anybody and they have become scared to move around.
He added that two of their members were brutally murdered around Zabolo while parading in the night by the armed robbers.
HRH decried that lack of funds to pay workers has been the major challenge facing the traditional institutions especially under the present Management Committee Chairmen, we are expected to pay N1.9 million as the salary of the staff here but we sometimes get less or nothing completely.
HRH Isau Mamman Shayang drums support for the local Government autonomy but frown at the lack of constitutional provision to support the exercise.
While marking his one year in office, the Royal Father reiterated that accountability and honesty is his watchword to all the ethnic tribes under Pengana chiefdom and he vows to continue till he joins his ancestors.
