NYSC Female Corps Member Serving In Nasarawa, Who Tested Positive For COVID-19 Absconds

A female Corp member who was serving in Nasarawa State Government Primary Health Care, Ombi 1, Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic who was tested for coronavirus pandemic is now at large.

 

An impeccable source who revealed to our reporter disclosed that the female Corp member was nowhere to be found as at press time when a team of Journalists visited the facility in Ombi 1.

 

Further investigation also revealed that the affected PHC which was serving Polytechnic and Ombi 1 is under lock.

 

The Commissioner for health, Pharmacy Ahmed Yahaya when contacted on phone said he is out of the state and directed the team of Journalists to the Director of Public Health Dr. Ibrahim Adamu for the official confirmation of the outbreak.

 

He further maintained that five Corp members were tested positive at the National Youth Service Corps camp in Keffi with the new outbreak, bringing the number to six positive cases at the camp.

 

He also confirmed the recent outbreak, saying she was picked from her place of service as an old Corp member to go to NYSC camp where she was tested positive.

 

He however said the female nurse breached COVID-19 protocol by reporting back to her place of work at IMAPOLY clinic.

 

He said the facility has been shut down to avoid community spread as well said the place would be fumigated.

 

The Rector Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic Lafia, Justina Kotso Anjiode would not be reached for comment as at press time as her Assistant (P.A) explained that the management of the institution is in a meeting.

 

During the tour of the facility and inspection of the school at the time, academic activities are going on smoothly while COVID-19 facilities are lacking right from the gate of the school to the new Administrative block.

 

The only available item was water while hand sanitizer, infrared, and on the side of the management and students nobody is obeying the COVID-19 protocol.

 

A resident within the vicinity called on the chairman of the committee on COVID-19 to expedite action to trace all contacts of the nurse who was at large.
