National Union of Road Transport Workers of Nigeria ,Nasarawa state Branch has decry the high level of harassment and extortion going on in some major roads across the 36 states of the country by the Nigerian soldiers.
In an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday in Jos ,the Plateau state capital the union group lamented that their members have continue to suffered constant fear and attack from gate fees charge.
They have appealed to federal government to come to their rescue by cautioning the soldiers mounting roads block to stop and help in reducing hardship melted on its members.
The group also explained further that between Akwanga to Lafia we continue experience extortions on what the soldiers are doing to motorists plying the routes, sometime they force our members to pay over 200 to 500 naira before allowing them to past .
According to the group, with the current economic hardship been experienced across the country government need to step up measures that can prevent the problem.
Also the hike in price of petroleum has continued brew and causing big challenge to the common man on the streets, they explained.
