NULGE Blames Members For Rejection Of Autonomy By Yakubu Busari,Jos

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, has described those against local government autonomy as enemies of progress. 
NULGE at a press conference in Jos Plateau state noted that state governments have been feeding fat on local government finances and its only autonomy that can revived development at that level of administration.
Comrade Samson Mafuyai, state President of the union accused state governments of using local government funds to finance elections among other sundry financed to the detriment of development.
According to him, LG autonomy rejection is suspect and callous, adding that the various State Houses  of assembly must endorse the bill as refusal should be viewed as collaboration to deny the grassroots of its rights. He noted further that salaries are hardly pay, because subventions are abused even before eventual receipt by the councils.

First beneficiaries of autonomy would be elected council officials Salaries withheld for lack of autonomy. If there was autonomy this could not have risen at all.
