NSCDC Risk Losing Equipment Demand N15 Million For Renovation Of Headquarters

An estimated total sum of 15 million naira is required by the National Security and civil Defense corps Plateau state command to urgently renovate the permanent site for equipment sent by federal government for training of personnel or risk losing to other states.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC ,Plateau state command ,Mr Olasupo Solomon Adebayo raised alarm that as the head ,” The Federal Government and State has committed over N5.5 million to the project to ensure that the state didn’t risk losing some vital equipment to other states .

He explained that what needed to be done right now is extension of 8 rooms’ sentry, fencing to enable many equipment sent to be install.

“We are calling on spirited individuals in the state to as a matter of urgency come to the rescue of the state command of NSCDC with funds “, he added.

The NSCDC is set to train no fewer than one thousand school children in Plateau state in peace building and conflict management in the last quarter of this year beginning from October.

The state commandant of NSCDC, Solomon made the disclosure at their ongoing renovation and rehabilitation site at Lamingo Road, Jos North LGA.

Olasupo said the commandant General of the corps ,Alh Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has declared that there is no any viable alternative to peace anywhere in the world as he noted that the command has decided to take the bull by the horn through the catch them young programme .

He assured that the project will be used to train the trainers across all the 17 local governments in the state while the training of the school children will subsequently be carried out simultaneously in various part of the state.

Olasupo reiterated that, ‘our children are our future, they will keep on looking at us and copy what we do or teach them ,we have decided to tell them that peace has no alternative ,we are going to tell them that all conflicts deserves positive responses and not negative confrontations.

He cautioned that; “it is the Responsibility of all of usto let these young ones know the dangers in being violent as violence begets violence while peaceful behavior also multiply positive development, we need to do these so that when it is their time to take over, they will enjoy their lives without fears and threats .

He blamed some of the violence responses to minor conflicts on communication gaps which was as a result of lack of negotiations skill in many agitators adding, these should be no matter beyond discussion, dialogue eases tension.

Olasupo reminded the officers and men of the corps to be shining examples of peaceful people in their areas noting that the fact that they live among the populace without barracks should be an advantage for them to preach and practice peace.

“You are to show the public the stuff you are made of show the quality of people with integrity, humidity and sincerity of purpose .You should only be tough with the criminals and law breakers and be kind and helpful to the law abiding citizens and residents alike.

According to him, September 21 of every year has been chosen globally as the international of peace which the corps observes as part of it mandate to ensure a peaceful and orderly society where people can go about their lawful business without fear or favour .
