NSCDC Introduces Security System Echo Mapping To Tackle Insecurity In Schools

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp in a proactive measure to tackle the rising wave of insecurity in the country has introduced a security system Echo Mapping to end the menace at all levels.

The Pioneer Commandant of the National Safe Schools Response Coordinating Centre, Tersoo Shaapera during a press conference held at the Playground of LGEA Central Primary School Doma says the Doma event in commemoration of a one-day sensitization workshop for stakeholders in the North-Central zone which will on Thursday.

He reiterated that the step-up awareness on schools at all levels was meant to make schools ranging from higher institutions to secondary Primary inclusive of private schools in the country, adding that security is the responsibility of all and sundry.

“According to him “The National Safe Schools Response Coordinating Centre was initiated on April 13th2023 during the reign of former President Muhammad’s Buhari”.

He however maintained that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp will work hand in hand with relevant and registered vigilante groups in the country to secure Schools, students, and pupils.

Terse in addition disclosed that another proactive measure taken by NSCDC is the introduction of Security System Echo Mapping in all schools in the country, as he further briefed that his personnel will pass through rigorous training in that regard.

He listed some of the functions to include formulating a host school information Centre to prevent any eventuality, To prevent crime and other criminalities in schools, To create awareness and self-approach to ensure a crime-free society.

Other functions also include receiving complaints at the appropriate time, maintaining a standby force in case of emergencies as well to maintaining contact with school authorities

The Andoma of Doma , Alhaji Ahmadinejad Aliyu Olga Onawo said the palace will continue to accord premise to the good initiative of the Federal Government.

He stated this when a delegation from the NSCDC command headquarters in Abuja led by the Nasarawa State Commandant Bappa Mohammed paid him an homage at his palace in Doma.

He lauded the Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense for initiating the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre and assured that it would go a long way to mitigate the challenges of insecurity in schools across the country.

Andoma appreciated the NSCDC for the choice of Doma Local Government to hold the Press Conference to be proceeded by enlightenment on the importance of information, collation, and dissemination on security challenges .in the society.

The Nasarawa State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Babffa Mohammed said that the homage was to intimate the Andoma of the programme in the domain and to also seek his Royal blessing.

Commandant Mohammed advocated synergy between the traditional and religious institutions in fighting crimes in society.

The event was targeted to ensure a safer and more secure teaching and learning environment for all Nigerian schools through a whole society approach to provide safety for schools and host communities to guarantee a seamless learning process in the country.

The Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Arc Ahmad Sarki Usman during his speech, appreciated the visitors for the choice of Nasarawa State.

Recalling the kidnapping of school pupils in LGEA Primary School Ai-Waza community of Doma Local Government of the State, He commended the Andoma of Doma for the swift intervention and proactive measures taken to effect the rescue of the abducted school pupils.

The event was targeted to ensure a safer and more secure teaching and learning environment for all Nigerian schools through a whole society approach to provide safety for schools and host communities to guarantee a seamless learning process in the country.

Dignitaries present at the event include His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmadu Aliyu Oga Onawo, OON, the Andoma of Doma, Secretary to Doma Local Government Council, Comrade Ibrahim Isa Usman, District Head of Akpanaja, Village Heads, Education Secretary, Doma Local Government Education Authority as well students and pupils across schools in the locality.

Others are the sister security agencies like the Nigeria Immigration, Customs: Federal Road Safety Commission, Nasarawa Youth Empowerment Scheme, The Federal Road Safety Corp, The Chairman Doma traditional Council of Chiefs His Royal Highest Andoma of Doma, Alhaji. Ahmadu 66 Oga Onawo and members of the Doma Traditional Council.
