NSCDC Boss Commends The Nigerian Navy

The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) , Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has commended the Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas and his personnel for the synergy and partnership with the Corps in tackling the issue of pipeline vandalism, Oil theft, illegal Oil bunkery and illegal refineries operations.

Abdullahi stated that, while  the job of protecting Critical Infrastructure and National Assets is the core  mandate of the Corps, however, the collaboration of other stakeholders in combating the menace will  also assist the Corps in bringing  the illicit acts to  a halt .

Therefore, he is calling on all other Agencies to emulate the gesture of Nigerian Navy, who despite the fact that NSCDC is the lead Agency in protection of critical infrastructures, synergizes in the fight against the illicit businesses  by apprehending vessels, arresting suspects and hand over to the Corps for prosecution.

Gana who is highly elated by this  gesture of the Navy, reiterated that some of the prosecution carried out and successes recorded by the Corps so far is due to collaboration between the two Agencies, especially in the handing over of vessels and suspects to the Corps in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta among others .He also appreciated  the arrest made in Lagos recently  by the  Nigerian Navy and the suspects handed over to the Corps for further investigation and prosecution.

The CG pledged that, the Corps will continue to ensure that all those involved in these acts of sabotage will be prosecuted in accordance to the Law of the Federation.  Therefore, he cautioned that  anyone who  has chosen to be in such nefarious business should quit or relocate from the Country as the Law is bound to catch up with the saboteurs.

The helmsman made this statement at the  Corps National Headquarters, Abuja, enjoined all stakeholders to join hands with the NSCDC  in ensuring that government effort in repositioning the Nation is not in vain, especially in the drive of reinvigorating  and reengineering the Petroleum Sector, the Power, Telecommunication and  the Transport Sectors. Therefore, he charged the Officers and Men to be up and doing and remain committed to the service of their fatherland.
