NPC Federal Commissioner, Yobe State Dies In Saudi Arabia

The National Population Commission regrets to announce the death of the Honourable Federal Commissioner representing Yobe State in the Commission, Mai Aliyu Muhammed. The late Mai Aliyu Muhammed passed away on 21st April 2024 while performing the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia and has been buried according to the Islamic rites.

The Commission received the sad news of his sudden demise as a rude shock and it is one great loss that has left a deep vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

He was appointed and sworn-in as the NPC Federal Commissioner, Yobe State by former President Muhammadu Buhari on 28th October, 2020 for a 5-year tenure.

The late Mai Aliyu Muhammed worked tirelessly to promote the noble objectives of the Commission and made invaluable contributions towards the preparation for the forthcoming first digital Population and Housing Census in Nigeria. He brought to bear on the smooth conduct of the Commission’s activities his wealth of experience, vast contact and goodwill. He was a very pleasant personality and related freely across all divides.

He lived a worthy life of service and devotion to Yobe State and the nation. He will therefore be sorely missed for his contributions to population issues and national development as well as his fatherly role in the Commission.

The Commission sends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the government and good people of Yobe State. It is our prayer that Allah will grant Mai Aliyu Muhammed jannatul firdaus.
