Northern Coordinator Northern Women Initiative Raises Alarm Over Herdsmen Killings, Condemns It As Barbaric

The Northern Coordinator Northern Women Initiative (NNWI) Echor Charity has condemned the dastardly attacks killings of innocent citizens in Benue, Taraba, Plateau and Nasarawa States as barbaric.

Charity made this condemnation in a press statement to our correspondent in Jos on Wednesday.

According to her, the northern NNWI join their voices in cry out over several Local Government Areas of Benue State by yet to be identified “Fulani herdsmen”, were women’s and children are vulnerable to act.

We wish to join our voice in solidarity with those of well-meaning citizens of Nigeria whose families were maimed and butchered.

Charity says, “It is unfortunate that these attacks have led to the loss of lives, destruction of properties and foodstuff and the displacement of people from their ancestral homes”.

While commiserating with the Governor and good people of Benue state, NNWI calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to deplore all instruments within his power to ensure that the perpetrators of these wicked acts are apprehended and are made to face the wrath of the law in its strictest form.

NNWI also wishes to commiserate with the Wife of the Executive Governor of Benue state, who being the mother of the State, has to feel the loss of her children, many of whom are women and innocent children. We pray that their deaths will not be in vain.

NNWI coordinator called on Miyetti Allah cattle rearers association to bring its erring members to order and come to the table of dialogue instead of the wanton and arbitrary destruction of lives and properties being perpetuated.

The Northern Nigeria Women Initiative appeals to the aggrieved parties to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue as a panacea to the lingering Herdsmen/ Farmers clashes in Benue state and in other affected States in Nigeria.
