NLC Election In Jos Marred With Crisis As NULGE Disrupts Election Process, Destroys 3 Ballot Boxes By Yakubu Busari,Jos

Three ballot boxes were yesterday destroyed by Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), after attacking the election officials before voting exercise commences in honest.

The ring leaders of the NULGE were led by an elderly who refused to take sorry for an answer storm voting center causing confusion.

Protests was seen at the Rwang pam Township stadium as NULGE and other group protests the pattern of Voting as announced by the electoral officer.

Already accreditation has been concluded for the voting process for the state Election of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC plateau state chapter.

The Total number of delegates accredited for the election is one thousand three hundred and eighteen. And delegates were seated right in the Rwang Pam stadium in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state waiting to commence voting.

But trouble started When the electoral officer announced that NULGE be allowed to start voting because they had been seating under the sun.

This sparked -off protest from other union bodies compelling the electoral officer calm them down and it was agreed that the same pattern of accreditation be used.

However the NULGE delegate violently stormed at the voting stand took and break ballot boxes bringing the electoral process to a standstill.

The National Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC)  , Comrade Ayuba Waba had  charged  the plateau state chapter to show transparency during the voting exercise not to allow themselves to be brought under public disgrace by  causing unnecessary confusion.

In a speech by the head of service ,Mr Ezekiel Dalyop while declaring the occasion open applauded Nigerian workers for their contribution toward peace building  in the state .

He appealed to the union leaders not to see the election as a do or die but to embrace each other as members of one family and also accept the winner.

Comrade Gungshing Yarling , Danjuma Abdullahi and Comrade Francis Izang in their separate statements commended the peaceful conduct of the election but appeal for calm and understanding after the voting.

They expressed confidence that the election will be very peaceful going by the peaceful conduct of the delegates during the accreditation which lasted three hours.

Comrade Jibrin Kamga Bancir is seeking re-election as the state chairman of the union while Eugene Manji is contesting against Banchir.

Those contesting the position of vice chairman are Gunshing Yarling Samson Mafuyai and samson Nyam

Francis Izang Atsen and Badung Dalyop are contesting for the position treasurer
