Nigerian Police Pay N134 Million To Families Of 25 Deceased Officers In Zamfara

The Nigerian Police Force has said it has paid N134 million to the family members of 25 officers who died while in service in Zamfara State, northwest Nigeria.

This was revealed in a press statement issued by the State Command Spokesman, Yezid Abubaker on Wednesday, stating that the money was paid by the Group Personal Accident, Group Life Insurance, and  IGP Family Welfare Schemes of the Force.

The statement reads: “The Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command, Cp Muhammad Shehu Dalijan psc, fsi, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM presented cheques of one hundred and thirty-four million, five hundred and fifty thousand, eight hundred and twenty four naira eighty-six kobos (N134,550,824.86k) only, to twenty-five families of deceased police officers, who lost their lives in active service of their fatherland.

“The cheques issued are part of the IGP’S welfare initiative under the  Group Personal Accident, Group Life Insurance, and  IGP Family Welfare Schemes of the Force.

“Given the above, CP MD Shehu reiterates the determination and commitment of the IGP towards ensuring that the welfare of members of the force, whether dead or alive, is paramount. He advised that the beneficiaries of these cheques use the money judiciously in ameliorating their academic and other financial needs.

“However,  he prays may the gentle souls of our departed officers have an eternal rest and may almighty Allah gives us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, amen.

“Finally, Hauwau Ibrahim and Lawrence Douglas appreciated the effort of the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command on behalf of other beneficiaries for the gesture and promised to make good use of the money given to them.”
